Health and Safety for Hazardous Chemicals

We are very proud to be on the list of preferred SQAS (Safety & Quality Assessment System) approved petroleum distributors. It is a legal and enforceable auditory system to evaluate the quality, safety, security and environmental performance of Logistics Service Providers and Chemical Distributors. When considering workplace safety and how to transport hazardous chemicals there are various factors to take into consideration. Firstly you have to provide adequate ventilation for where the hazardous chemicals are to be dispensed, used and stored; this will help prevent heat from building up which can produce disastrous results. All other obvious ignition sources should be removed from storage and around handling areas. It is also important to make sure that all flammable liquids are stored in suitable lidded containers and are clearly marked- they should also be kept away from other processes and storage areas that are not designed for them.

Our drivers are fully trained in the handling of health and safety for hazardous chemicals and adhere to a strict and professional delivery regimen and provide for Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and all health and safety audit requirements.  Safety is our number one priority and it is the cornerstone of our approach to operate responsibly and is reflected in our goals to minimize our environmental impact.

If hazardous chemicals are to be used, the lid should be returned as soon as you are done and the container returned back to the proper storage bin or cupboard. This prevents mishaps from happening. Hazardous chemical need to be kept in restricted areas where only authorized staff is granted access as they happen to be the only people who know how to use these chemicals. The stock should also be kept to a minimum as this allows for it to be monitored and used to finish much easier than when all the stock is made available. This helps to prevent misuse of the chemicals. Remember to also rotate the stock on a fist in first out basis and dispose of stock that has been stored for too long.
