A skid-steer loader is a small rigid frame, engine-powered machine with lift arms used to attach a wide variety of labor-saving tools or attachments. Skid-steer loaders are typically four-wheel vehicles with the wheels mechanically locked in synchronization on each side, and the left-side drive wheels can be driven independently of the right-side drive wheels. The wheels typically have no separate steering mechanism and hold a fixed straight alignment on the body of the machine. By turning the left and right wheel pairs at different speeds, the machine turns by skidding, or dragging its fixed-orientation wheels across the ground. The extremely rigid frame and strong wheel bearings prevent the torsional forces caused by this dragging motion from damaging the machine. Their small size and maneuverability allows them to operate in small tight and confined spaces. Their light weight allows them to be transported together with other equipment, and the wide array of work-tools makes them very flexible. Skid-steer loaders are adaptable machines, and are quite easily operated. They can turn within their own footprint, just like a tank.

Uses

Skid steer loaders are used to dig and move landscaping and building materials. But the machines can also grade, jackhammer cement and load trucks, as well as many other.

Recommended for

Extremely useful in small confined and akward spaces. Skidsteers are very popular with Building contractors, Landscapers and for loading small quantities of rubble onto tipper trucks.
