Welcome to the House of Permanent Makeup

We use the best Permanent Makeup Pigments

CF1Imagine the convenience of a wash and wear face, with eyeliner, eyebrows, and lip colour that doesn’t smear or run off during the day. Permanent cosmetic makeup is the art and science of implanting organic colour into the skin. It is putting the right colour in the right place so that you can look better naturally.

Organic Pigments are a combination of organic and carbon materials. There is no iron oxide in organic pigments, which eliminates colour change of the pigment. Organic pigments are combined with an insoluble substance, which reduces the risk of an allergic reaction.

Organic pigments stay true to its colour. The colour will never migrate and is stable. Permanent eyeliner is a specialised form, of micro pigmentation, where pigment is placed in the dermal layer of the skin around the eyes.

Organic Pigments VS Natural Mineral Based Pigments

Organic Pigments (Contains no Iron Oxide)

Organic pigments are a combination or organic and carbon materials. Why carbon? Because this element combines so perfectly with itself as well as with other elements that they can never be separated. In other words, these pigments are virtually indestructible. These organic pigments disperse into the skin. This means that the main constituent of the human body is water, they will dissolve over a period of time. To prevent the colour from dissolving, the soluble organic pigments are combined with an insoluble substance, such as hydroxide of alumina, which “coats” the pigments. The pigment becomes heavier and as a consequence acts as fixatives, which hold better under the skin. The coat also renders the pigment molecule insoluble in the human body. Lastly, the added advantage of these pigments is that it reduces the risk of an allergic reaction because the “coat” isolates the organic substance in the body.

Natural Mineral Based Pigments (1% Iron Oxide)

Natural Mineral Based pigments are derived from ores. One of the most commonly used. It is also the best tolerated, BUT not all colours can be obtained from this substance and other metals have to be used. Through the process of synthesis, we can now create substances that are as organic as they are Natural Mineral Based. Natural Mineral Based substances are synthetically produced, especially as the extraction of certain ores is forbidden, presumably to protect some of these deposits from running out. To sum up, Natural Mineral Based pigments or minerals are primarily used in derma graphics. These are more often than not produced synthetically from metals. Iron oxide is the most widely used. It is quite understandable that clients should be curious about the composition of Natural Mineral Based pigments. However they should also know about their structure and properties! Ideally, the pigments used in derma pigmentation should reveal the following characteristics: absence of toxicity, stability when subjected to light, insensitivity to metabolism, and absolute insolubility.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Will permanent makeup fade over time and when should the colour be freshened up?

A. Yes, permanent does fade over time. Most people will need to have their permanent makeup freshened up at some point, which is usually from two to ten years

Q. Are the procedures painful?

A. Everyone is different in their tolerance and sensitivity. A topical-numbing solution is used to help numb the area that will be worked on before starting the procedure.

Q. Do people ever have an allergic reaction to permanent makeup?

A. The chances of developing an allergic reaction to pigments is extremely remote. Less than 1% in over 100,000 permanent cosmetic procedures resulted in an allergic reaction, according to “Micro Pigmentation, State of the Art” by Charles Zwerling, M.D

Q. How do you select those colours?

A. Colours are usually selected by a client requesting a certain colour for the particular procedure that is being performed. Also, you may consider what your permanent makeup technician may advice on what colour they feel will look best with your skin tone and hair colouring.

Q. What is a good age to have permanent makeup procedures done?

A. It’s never too late or too early to enjoy permanent makeup. Whatever your age, permanent makeup can eliminate that dreaded washed out look we all hate. At any age you will wonder how you were ever able to get along without permanent makeup before.

Q. Will permanent makeup still look good as you get older and the skin changes?

A. As long as you look good with makeup, you will look good with permanent makeup. There is really no age where you have to stop using makeup because of skin ageing. If you’re concerned the permanent makeup may look a little too dark on you in future don’t worry. Remember, permanent makeup will get lighter with time.

Q. Will I be able to see each procedure drawn before the procedure is started?

A. Yes! This is a very important step and can be fun. The brows, lips and/ or eyeliner will be drawn on to enhance your facial features first and of course to your satisfaction, before the procedure is started. The nice thing is that it is going to stay with you enhancing what you do have and it won’t wash off like other temporary makeovers do.
